As the President of the Indiana Council for Continuing Education (ICCE), I have the following news to share:
1. Incoming officers and committee chairs for 2009-10 are:
- President (continuing): Gary Schott,Indiana University Purdue University at Fort Wayne
- Secretary: Allyn Beekman, Indiana Wesleyan University
- Treasurer: Kerrie Aborn, Anderson University
Committee Chairs:
- Membership: Jim McFaul, Vincennes University-Jasper Campus
- Awards: Aleza Beverly, Anderson University

- Support Staff Development: Phyllis Dranger, Purdue University North Central
- Communication: Cindi Czapla, Valparaiso University
(Communication is a new committee focused on strengthening how ICCE connects with our members and linking members to members.)
2. President Elect position open. Due to a job change, our newly elected President Elect will not be able to serve. Therefore, we are looking for volunteers or nominations for this position. This officer will oversee our professional development programs with the Spring Conference being the most notable activity. And this individual will prepare to move into the president position next year. If you are interested in this position or have any questions, please contact me by June 30th. Click here to email me.
3. Learn from Success returns. Our new activity from last year is coming back this fall. It gives you the chance to visit another campus to see what they are doing, ask questions and apply their answers to your situation. It is an informal networking session which is easy on your budget-- no registration fee! Look for more information soon.
4. Member Survey Highlights: ICCE conducted a survey to gain more insight into your thoughts as related to the Professional Development Conference. Some items of note:
-The registration fee was fairly priced.
-People attend for the networking and new ideas.
-Early March is the best time for the conference.
-People are interested in a web recording/streaming video option.
Thanks to all of you who responded. We appreciate and value your feedback.
5. Committee Involvement: If you have interest in any of our committees listed above, please let me know. We would love to have you involved and contributing. We understand about tight budgets, so the need to travel will be limited. We rely on emails and conference calls. Working on a committee is a great way to network with people from other campuses.
Please share the above information with others in your organization and inform me of anyone who you would like added to our distribution list for future updates.
In closing, your officers and committee chairs are excited about the upcoming year. I'll be working to keep you up-to-date on what is happening and what is coming. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions concerning ICCE, please let me know.
Gary Schott
