Vincennes University, Indiana University East and the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies are partnering to bring five new bachelor’s degree programs to VU Jasper Campus next semester.
The programs will be offered online and through independent study.
Bachelor’s degrees will be offered in general studies, business administration, English technical and professional writing, communication studies, and natural science and math with a concentration in math.
VUJC has offered bachelor’s degree in nursing and in education with an emphasis in special and elementary education since 2007.
Dean Alan Johnson said VU has been looking for additional bachelor’s degree possibilities for the Jasper campus for about two years because some members of the campus community expressed an interest in seeking four-year degrees without having to leave Jasper.
It is the mission of IU to extend educational programs, and the university views Jasper as underserved in regard to bachelor’s degrees. IU will also provide VUJC students with a unique opportunity for long-distance programs by sending advisers to the campus regularly to help students, Johnson said.
